Key Messages

When talking, writing, or posting about Eat. Learn. Play. Little Town Libraries, please incorporate some of the key messages about the program:

  • Eat. Learn. Play. and our dedicated team of community partners and neighborhood ambassadors are working together to increase literacy and encourage a love of reading in Oakland kids.

  • There will ultimately be 150 new Little Town Libraries constructed and maintained in under-resourced areas of Oakland.

  • Eat. Learn. Play. and our partners will distribute 50,000 books, so kids can read anywhere and everywhere.

  • The libraries meet kids and families where they are, and encourage neighborhood book sharing to develop children’s passion for reading. 

  • Eat. Learn. Play. is partnering with the Oakland Literacy Coalition, the Black Cultural Zone, and the Oakland Public Library. Each organization will oversee 50 libraries.
