The Initiative Will Be Bigger Than Ever This Year, With 12 Days of Christmas With The Currys Kicking Off On December 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oakland, CA – December 13, 2021 – Eat. Learn. Play., the organization founded by three-time NBA champion and two-time MVP Stephen Curry and entrepreneur, host and two-time The New York Times best-selling author Ayesha Curry, are pleased to announce the kick off of the 9th annual Christmas With The Currys holiday celebration.

The 12 Days of Christmas with the Currys will take the annual celebration up a notch, which will begin on December 13 through Christmas Eve, consisting of 12 consecutive days of amazing surprise and delight moments around the Oakland/Bay Area.

“It’s no secret that this has been an especially challenging year for families in our community and beyond, that’s why we wanted to really go all out this year and show love for the most resilient people and organizations right here in our backyard,” said Stephen and Ayesha Curry, Co-Founders of Eat. Learn. Play. “We're excited to show the world what's in store for the 9th annual Christmas with the Currys, and are so grateful to be in a position to bring some holiday cheer to the Bay Area.”

The foundation’s holiday giveback initiative will be surprising kids, families, local community heroes and organizations across the Bay Area. This year’s 12 Days of Christmas with the Currys will be filled with generous donations, one-of-a-kind experiences and memorable gifts courtesy of Eat. Learn. Play.’s deep bench of devoted and supportive partners.

“We’re so grateful to all our partners, sponsors and donors for their unwavering support, helping us put on the most impactful Christmas with the Currys to-date,” said Chris Helfrich, CEO of Eat. Learn. Play. “We’re excited to close out the year by providing much-needed gifts and financial support to kids, families and organizations in our community.

The first day of the 12 Days of Christmas with the Currys was an intimate yet impactful surprise with some of Oakland’s most underappreciated heroes -- teachers. In partnership with DonorsChoose, Eat. Learn. Play. invited four deserving Oakland teachers to a location to meet with Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf to discuss funding needs for projects. To their surprise, Stephen Curry dropped in with the news that Eat. Learn. Play. will fund the teachers’ classroom literacy projects. Additionally, Eat. Learn. Play. announced as part of their goal to close the literacy gap for students in Oakland; they will fund teacher-led literacy projects in the Oakland Unified School District up to $1 million through a partnership with DonorsChoose.

Last year, Eat. Learn. Play. and the Currys hosted a holiday food, gift and resource drive-thru distribution, benefitting more than 1,000 Oakland children and families. The families were surprised and delighted with holiday-themed gifts, inspired by the organization’s EAT, LEARN, and PLAY pillars, with nearly $1 million worth of items given away – a goal Eat. Learn. Play. is looking to surpass this year.

Eat. Learn. Play. is grateful for the continued support of its lead partners including FTX, Kaiser Permanente and Workday, without them, this holiday celebration would not be possible. Also providing support this year  are partners BriteBrush, Callaway, Chipman Relocation & Logistics, CLIF Bar, Clover, Curry Brand, DICK’s Sporting Goods, DonorsChoose, Flexpower, Ghirardelli, Go Go Squeez, Golden State Warriors, Goldman Sachs, GoodGood Eats, HAPE Toys, JP Morgan Chase, JustFab, Kaboom!, Lineage Logistics, Literati, Lyft, Mezzetta, Oakland A’s, Partake, Pixar, Rakuten, Ripple, Soul Focus Sports, The Olympic Club, Under Armour and Whole Foods.
